In a world where ‘fake news’ dominates the media, it’s hard to know who and what to trust. We’ve all seen Donald Trump accusing Fox News for broadcasting ‘fake news’ in retaliation for the humiliation and degradation that they hand Trump on a daily basis. The fact that the new season of American Horror Story is based on the portrayal of our modern democratic nightmare is pretty ingenious, but the sad truth is that fake news existed long before Trump brought light to it, generations have been sucked into it, and minds have been twisted. Many people have moved from the traditional means of listening and reading the news and are turning to independent sources for their information such as the hacktivist collective Anonymous.
But what do we really know about the modern day vigilantes with the power to crack government security? They formed in 2003 however they’ve only been a household name since 2012 after a succession of arrests in the UK, USA and Europe. In this surreal reality we’ve found ourselves living within they’ve quickly become a ray of light, they’re more than just a band of young skilled hackers that want to steal your credit card information, they operate with an agenda for justice for every citizen on earth with the motto ‘We are Legion. We do not forgive, we do, not forget, expect us.
They’ve waged wars against the corruption within the Church of Scientology infiltrated the KKK and published members details online, shared the email addresses of wayward partners using the marital affair website Ashley Madison, and they’ve made it their mission to take on IS by disrupting their lines of communication and preventing them from mobilizing in such a fluid manner as we have seen with the recent worldwide attacks. When morality is at an all-time low due to the oppression at the hands of the government and New World Order, Anonymous has taken the moral high ground that the media daren’t walk upon. They don’t operate as infrastructure, only as an idea making it impossible to pin them down and stop them, each day this idea is ever-growing in momentum, thanks to their ever-growing reach with almost 9 million followers on Facebook alone.
Not to mention their news site which draws in millions of hits each day. Their Million Mask March takes place in cities all over the world which happens each 5th of November to remind the world what has been forgotten and ask for fairness that we have been denied under the draconian rule of the government. We have no reason not to trust the information that Anonymous shares with us imploring us to stand up and be the change. All of their sources for information are highly credible, yet due to the fact their broadcasts aren’t curtesy of the BBC, CNN or Sky news it’s become a hard pill to swallow when they provide proof that Hitler lived after World War II, the corruption of the Rothschilds, and the fact that scientists in Florida figured out how to create a hurricane in a lab while the elite are preparing for a cataclysmic event which has been confirmed by NASA.
Stubborn beliefs have been entwined in the fabric of our certainty, the truth has been handed to us, yet we people choose to create an enemy of knowledge, weakening the power that exists in each and every one of us. If there was ever a time to pay attention, it’s now.
